Consumer mains upgrades in Sydney
Underground and overhead mains, service connections and private pole work — accredited for both networks.
Burning smell, sparking switchboard or no power?
Do not touch it. Call us — 24 hours, every day.
Consumer mains done once, done properly.
Consumer mains are the cables between the network's point of supply and your switchboard. They are also the part of the system most likely to be undersized, because they were sized for a house that had a stove, a kettle and a television.
Adding ducted air conditioning, an EV charger, a heat pump or a large solar system to old mains is what causes the main switch to trip on hot evenings. This is accredited work, restricted to Level 2 ASPs, and we do it ourselves.

When mains work is needed
- The main switch trips when several large appliances run together
- Lights dim noticeably when the air conditioner starts
- Adding solar, an EV charger or ducted air conditioning
- Frayed, cracked or sagging overhead service cable
- A private pole that is leaning, split or rotting at the base
- A network defect notice has been issued for your property
Defect notices
If Ausgrid or Endeavour Energy has issued a defect notice, it will carry a deadline, and after that the supply can be disconnected. Most notices relate to the point of attachment, the service cable or a private pole.
Bring us the notice and we will read the actual defect, quote the rectification, do the work and lodge the paperwork that clears it.
- Existing mains and point of supply inspected
- Load assessed against current and planned usage
- Network disconnection arranged where needed
- New mains installed overhead or underground
- Reconnection, testing and notification lodged

What is a Level 2 ASP?
An accredited service provider authorised to work on the network side of the point of supply — connections, disconnections, metering and mains. A general electrician cannot do this work.
I have a defect notice. What now?
Call us with the notice in front of you. Most have a deadline, and the work required is usually well defined.
How long is the power off?
For a straightforward mains replacement, a few hours. Underground work takes longer because of the trenching.
Do I need underground or overhead?
Whatever your property already has, unless you are converting. Underground is tidier and costs more because of the excavation.
Who owns the private pole?
If it is on your land, it is yours to maintain, including replacement when it fails inspection.
Often booked at the same time.
